A leading financial institution -Fidelity Bank Plc -has donated maternity kits to expectant mothers in the Oriade Local Council Development Area of Satellite Town, Lagos State, demonstrating its commitment to community development and maternal well-being.
This impactful initiative was executed by the Excellence and Innovation Inductees Class under the Fidelity Helping Hands Programme (FHHP), the Bank’s staff-led Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The official handover ceremony took place at the Primary Health Centre in Oriade LCDA, where the kits were formally presented by the Fidelity Bank team, led by Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head, Brand and Communications. He was warmly received by the Centre’s Senior Nurse, Mrs. Odunayo Adesina.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Meksley emphasized the Bank’s enduring commitment to societal well-being and the importance of maternal health, noting, “Mothers are the backbone of our communities. Supporting them, especially during pregnancy, is an investment in the future of our nation. While financial constraints often prevent expectant mothers from accessing proper antenatal care, we deemed it important to provide these kits to help ease the burden on the expectant customers. Our objective with this FHHP donation is to encourage more women to seek appropriate medical care and ultimately, contribute to reducing maternal mortality in this locality.”
Through the FHHP, Fidelity Bank empowers its employees to identify pressing needs within their communities, mobilize resources internally, and implement sustainable projects. The Bank’s management supports these initiatives by matching the funds raised by staff to ensure successful execution.
In her response, Mrs. Adesina expressed heartfelt appreciation to Fidelity Bank for its timely intervention, describing the donation as a lifeline for many of the center’s patients. “This gesture is deeply appreciated. These maternity kits will go a long way in easing the financial burden on our pregnant women. The items provided are critical to ensuring safer deliveries and better preparedness for childbirth.”
Also speaking at the event, one of the beneficiaries and a longstanding customer of the Bank, Mrs. Chidiade Chibuike, conveyed her gratitude, saying, “I’m truly overwhelmed with joy.
