Leading Financial Institution, Fidelity Bank Plc has distributed over 5,000 food packs to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Ichwa and Mega Camps, Benue State.
The donations were made under the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative themed the Fidelity Food Bank, created to reach out to vulnerable persons and reduce the effect of hunger in the society.
Speaking at the distribution event, the Divisional Head, Brand and Communication, Fidelity Bank Plc, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, described the Food Bank Initiative as the bank’s contribution towards helping the less privileged in the society.
Nwagboh stated, “At Fidelity Bank, our success is tied to the community’s success. That’s why we engage in vital outreaches like this. Today, we’re at Ichwa and Mega Camps in Benue State to distribute food items under the Fidelity Food Bank programme.”
“Since April 2023, we have distributed thousands of food packs across Nigeria. Today, we are distributing 5,000 food packs, marking our largest distribution at a given location. For Fidelity Bank, it’s not just about the food packs but the positive impact on families and lives.”
Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Mr. Fidelis Unongo, commended the bank for always coming to the aid of the IDPs in the state noting that the bank has shown significant assistance to the IDPs, orphans, physically challenged and the widows.
Alia assured the IDPs that the government is working tirelessly to return them to their ancestral homes in no distant time while he encouraged them to always pray for the governor to enable him continue to deliver on his mandate.
The Ichwa Camp Chairman, Mr. Abraham Tar, appreciated Fidelity Bank for the kind gesture and urged the governor to make good his promise of ensuring that the IDPs return to their ancestral homes.
Tar further noted that, “We are trusting God that one day we would finally return to our homes because we believe that our stay in the camp is limited.”
Appreciating the kind gesture, one of the beneficiaries, Mr. John Zaiyol, appreciated governor Alia, Fidelity Bank and SEMA for their assistance and support.
